Roadside Oklahoma is a site that I ultimately intend to be a storage device for the research that I conduct on Oklahoma ghost towns, theaters, drive-ins and other roadside attractions. That being said, this site is a constant work in progress. I am currently working on sheer data entry for the information that I have already gathered through library research, internet research, first hand accounts, and site visits. This is quite a daunting task as I let the site lapse for a great period of time while I was still researching and amassing photos and research data.
Content
This site is not intended to be used as a source for scholarly papers. You may find it useful as a basis of your own research, but due to its constant morphing state, information is always changing. For example, I may list six theaters for a town in Oklahoma and later discover that two of the six were actually simply different names for the same theaters. After the discovery, I will combine the listings and have four theaters remaining. I acknowledge that the data on this site may not correspond to data on other sites of the same theme.
Photos
Modern photos are photos that were taken by myself during research trips. Occasionally, I may post modern photos taken by a friend assisting me with the project. If the latter, I will reference the photographer's name. For historical photos, I will reference the source of the photo. No photo taken before 2004 was taken by me and I make no such claim.
In terms of using my photos on other sites, I would prefer this not happen. My photos are the result of hours of research and countless dollars in gas and transportation. Please don't just steal them! In the event that you would like to reference the photo, please either link directly to this site or contact me for permission.
Comments
I have recently added a commenting system for the website. You do not need to register to make a comment. Please keep the comments friendly and on topic. I do not expect this site to receive a high volume of comment traffic, but I welcome information that you may have!
Other Sites
When I obtain information from other sites, I link the associated page at the bottom of the pertinent article. My favorite sites are Cinema Treasures and CinemaTour; both of which have great communities and are a wealth of information! |
