Night at the Winchester

Last night we decided to head down to the Winchester Drive-In to catch the triple feature for this weekend: How to Train Your Dragon, Iron Man 2 and Nightmare on Elm Street. We arrived a little late and found the drive-in absolutely slammed! We ended up parking in the very back row, which was still a good viewing position thanks to the narrow lot.
About halfway through Iron Man 2 (second feature), the sporatic lightning that had been present through the first film developed into a bit more of a thunderstorm. Some large drops began to fall, which prompted my husband and I to retreat to the cab of the truck. Undaunted, our neighbor to the left continued to watch the movie from the hood of his car while sipping on his concession drink. All of a sudden, a HUGE bolt of lightning struck VERY closeby. The guy to the left leaped straight into the air, tossing his drink straight up as well. Before the drink could even hit the hood of the car, he had high-stepped around the whole car and leaped into the passenger seat. That was worth the $6 admission just by itself!! In the meantime, the bolt knocked the movie out as well as the audio. After seeing movies like Twister, that's almost a little creepy! Anyway, the movie was shortly back on track and many people fled the scene as the thunderstorm continued.
Anyway, another excellent night at the drive-in. I plan to make many more drive-in trips this summer. :)
