Without much fanfare, the Windsor Hills Cinema reopened as the B&B Theaters Windsor 10. The theater closed around 2000 and has sat vacant behind the Windsor Hills shopping center ever since. B&B Theaters gave the aging cinema an Art Deco makeover and relit the screens with first-run features. Even though the outside was refubished, the inside is just as you remember it. Tickets are purchased at the concession stand, after which you ascend a ramp to the ticket-taker. Your ticket will point you left or right down dark hallways. Our movie, Book of Eli, was to the right all the way at the end. The auditorium was quite cold as the heating unit had failed overnight. Despite the cold, the movie was good, and the ticking of the film projector was a comforting sound. Despite the fact that this theater lacks the amenities of newer monsterplexes such as the Warren, the cinema still revives feelings from the days when I didn't care if the film was accompanied by THX sound or the chairs rocked. Stop by this one if you get a chance.
For reference, I included a "before" picture that I took last February.
